I hunted the Multi-Club Hunt in Jan. with Mory Tait who won the World Predator Calling Contest in 1966 and 1967.
It was a very enjoyable day.
Tyler and his team called the same general area of the state. Early afternoon Tyler called on his cell and told me they had just called in a double and killed the male, the female got away.
I asked for precise directions to that stand. We drove in about about one hour after Tyler's stand and parked in their tire tracks. We could see the drag marks from their coyote. We followed the drag mark about 100 yards to the same general area they had called from and set up. I did one howl and immediately began puppy distress and adult distress. A female came in three minutes into the stand.
Make of it what you will, it is the tip of the day. smile.gif

The last couple of years on stand i have called in doubles and thriples and may have only gotten one out of the bunch but have come back to same area the next day and set up and usually got the ones that got away the first time.. I learned from a friend to keep shooting to a minimum or even pass on a coyote if things were'nt right . The more severe of the encounter with a caller the tougher they willbe the next time to call in.. Anyway i have applied this to my calling and it has made a world of a difference.. Just last week on a calling trip i bumped two coyotes comeing in to a pasture where there was a stack of round bales. I could of taken a shot at one and perhaps killed it but instead i let them trot off and then waited 15 min. or so and set up and called them back in and got one out of the two. I had another stand where i had five come in but scattered about.. I took the first one that came into range and got her. The rest scattered and i could'nt bring them back in so i picked up and came back the next mourning and set up 50 yds from my other stand (other side of a small hill) and got a second coyote from same area. Sometimes you can bring the ones you missed back in the next day with the same sound and sometimes you may have to use something different or just change the stand location..
There was also a good size group a friend and me went after last year, we would call them in and take out one of them and then just change stand locations and do it again, this went on for half of the day and i learned alot from this..
I have some of my hunts on film where i went in and killed one and came back and got the other...
